AZHCC member Al Quihuis owns Financial Directions LLC, a full service and independent Financial Planning company that provides services and planning to individuals and businesses with the focus on financial independence. Business services include: Company Benefits, Retirement Plans (such as 401k), and Executive Bonus Plans. Personal Services include Investments/Money Management, Saving Plans, College Education Funding, IRA, Roths and IRA Rollover, Life Insurance, LTC and Disability Insurance.

Quihuis started in the financial service industry in 1988 and became a Certified Financial Planner in 1994. He is a Registered Investment Advisor and a member of the Financial Planning Association.

Quihuis has been a member of the chamber for over 6 years. He was the AZHCC Volunteer of the year for 2001 and he also started the Ambassador Program and currently serves as the Chairperson of that committee.

“It’s important to be a member of the AZHCC because of visibilty and credibility,” says Quihuis. He also credits the networking potential as another advantage of being a member of the Chamber. Quihuis says that the educational seminars for management and marketing growth are also very important… Quihuis enjoys the friendships and camaraderie of the AZHCC as well. “I have made many great friends,” he adds.

As a veteran chamber member and business owner, Quihuis has the following advice. “Have a plan and a passion for what you are doing,” states Quihuis.
“Have staying power (capital and determination). You are in this for the long haul and never give up.”
Quihuis’ advice also extends to building relationships and helping others to succeed.
“Always strive for the next level, take time to look at the big picture, and think outside the box,” says Quihuis. “Continue to educate yourself and your clients,” he adds. “Don’t try to do everything yourself, seek out professional advice.” Quihuis says it’s important to join and participate in the AZHCC and other organizations. “Make a difference,” he says. “Get involved and give back to the community.”

Quihuis’ entrepreneurial spirit has been long ingrained through his family.
“My father had his own business and I learned from him about being your own boss, setting your own schedule and reaching your true financial potential through owning your own business,” said Quihuis.

“In this fast pace society there are many people who do not have the time, think they are doing everything they can or just don’t know what to do or who to trust, so they do nothing,” says Quihuis. “My biggest challenge is to advise and educate so people understand the importance of having a Financial Advisor on their team. You don’t need a Financial Advisor everyday, but when you do, make sure you know someone who is knowledgeable and experienced and cares about you,“ Quihuis cautions.
