LOCAL HISPANIC-OWNED FIRM WINS NATIONAL AWARD

PHOENIX, AZ – The U.S. Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency has awarded engineering, construction, and environmental firm AR Utility Specialists, Inc. (ARUSI) the prestigious 2003 National Minority Service Firm of the Year. ARUSI, a Phoenix Arizona-based firm and a member of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, provides services to the energy and telecommunication utility sectors, municipalities, and federal government.

Reynoso started ARUSI 15 years ago to provide design services to local utilities. ARUSI now has 50 employees and has expanded its service base to include such advance offerings as fire protection services, design-build project management, energy distribution engineering design, and closed-loop environmental bioremediation services. ARUSI’s diverse client base includes Salt River Project, Southwest Gas Corporation, Central Arizona Project, City of Phoenix, and the U.S. Department of Defense.

Hispanic Business Magazine recently recognized ARUSI as one of the fastest 100 growing and top 500 Hispanic-owned firms in the nation. ARUSI is also one of the top Arizona-based firms providing services to the Federal Government, primarily to the Department of Defense.
Along with the other top Hispanic Arizona firms, ARUSI will be recognized at the Arizona Hispanic Business Symposium, on September 30, 2003. ARUSI will receive the MBDC national service award on October 1st at the National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Conference in Washington D.C. The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) is a part of the U.S. Department of Commerce. MBDA is the only Federal agency created specifically to foster the establishment and growth of minority-owned businesses in America.
