Arizona Million Dollar Circle of Excellence
The Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce launched the AZ Million Dollar Circle of Excellence (AZ MDCE) during its 2012 Minority Business Enterprise Summit. (Note: the event’s name has been changed to Business Diversity Summit.)
The AZ MDCE recognizes companies leading the way in supplier diversity by spending more than $1 million annually (Tier 1) with Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (M/WBE's) in Arizona. This initiative is modeled after the globally-renowned Billion Dollar Roundtable.
Companies that qualify for recognition by the AZ MDCE were honored at a special breakfast ceremony on November 14, 2014 at the Arizona Biltmore. The AZ MDCE induction ceremony will be part the Annual Business Diversity Summit.
The AZHCC created the AZ MDCE in collaboration with several distinguished community partners: Greater Phoenix Black Chamber of Commerce, The American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Arizona, Associated Minority Contractors of America, Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Arizona, Pacific Southwest Minority Supplier Diversity Council, Asian Chamber of Commerce, Women's Business Enterprise Council-West, and the Phoenix MBDA Business Center.
Don Brandt, Chairman and CEO of Arizona Public Service, serves as the chair of the AZ MDCE committee. Thirteen companies submitted their spend report (verified by Ernst and Young) and were inducted into the Circle of Excellence in 2013. The Summit drew about 500 attendees and culminated in the release of the AZ Best Practices in Supplier Diversity publication.
