Name:  Travis La Macchia

University: Northern Arizona University

Major: Environmental Economics

Quote: “I'm studying Environmental Economics with the hopes that I can work somewhere that strives to protect the natural world. I grew up at the end of a canal in Florida where the currents would move what seemed like infinite trash into my backyard. I would clear the trash with my dad, but the trash was never-ending. This exposure to pollution inspired me to earn a degree that I can use to solve problems that are close to my heart. Additionally, in Florida I lived a 30-minute drive away from Kennedy Space Center. I remember climbing on the roof with my family and watching rockets blast off to resupply the ISS. Witnessing these incredible feats of technology inspired me to earn a degree that gives back to humanity, similarly to how space travel gives back to all of us.
